Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Convention (1792–1795). Trial coin of 1 sol in red copper, by Dupré, Special Strike (SP) 1792, Paris. Obverse: REGNE DE LA LOI. The Genius engraving the word CONSTITUTION between a Phrygian cap and a triangle, with two stars below; signature DUPRE on the base of the altar; in the exergue: REPUBLIQUE / FRANÇAISE. Reverse: Within an oak wreath: PIÈCE / D’ESSAI. / (date). G.18 v. – Maz. cf. 334 (RENGNE) - VG.348 (MDC); Copper – 9.29 g – 26.7 mm – 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen (re-strike)! PCGS SP63BN (58336880). Special Strike (SP). Struck as a coin on a red copper blank! Re-struck according to PCGS. Retains most of its original red colour, barely tarnished. Superb in Proof condition.
