Convention (1792–1795). Trial coin, with a face value of 5 sols, featuring a hybrid design combining ‘PEACE AND STRENGTH’ and a bundle of rods, by Brézin, Special Strike (SP) 1792 – Year I, Paris.
Obverse. Within a wreath formed of two oak branches, a bundle with two ties surmounted by a cap on a pike.
Rev. Within a laurel wreath (counter-clockwise), an oak wreath (clockwise) and in the centre, in three lines: PAIX / ET / FORCE.

Special strike (SP). Smooth edge. Combination of Mazard’s DII and DIII dies: struck with rusty dies and likely struck later, around 1848 (Mazard p.103). With a light brown patina and traces of the original red colour around the raised areas. Superb in Proof condition.
