FRANCE - FRANCE Directoire (1795–1799). Five centimes Dupré, large size, Year 8 (1799), W, Lille. Obverse: REPUBLIQUE - FRANÇAISE. Bust of the Republic facing left, wearing a cap of liberty; below, Dupré’s cursive signature. Reverse: Within a wreath formed of two oak branches: CINQ CENTIMES. L’AN (date). (variant) (mint) (variant). G.126a - F.115; Copper - 9.57 g - 28.5 mm - 6 h This is the second-highest grade (2)! PCGS MS62BN (58336896). The date has been altered, though this is not certain. The ‘A’ in ‘AN’ is missing (strike mark blocked). Retains its original red colour with a developing patina. Superb in mint condition.
