Description
FRANCE - FRANCE First Empire / Napoleon I (1804–1814). Hybrid trial coin: 2 francs (Revolutionary Calendar) / 5 centimes (Napoleon II) ND. Obverse: NAPOLEON – EMPEREUR. Bare head facing right, with the cursive signature ‘Tiolier’ below. Reverse: EMPIRE (branch) – FRANÇAIS. Within a wreath formed of two branches: 5 / CENTIMES / ESSAI. G.495 / G.133 – Théret/Taillard 1035-2803.COP; Pewter – 10.54 g – 27 mm – 6 h Made of pewter, with a smooth edge and the year removed from the reverse: likely a later fantasy casting, but a series of different denominations does exist! With a dark patina. Very good condition.
