FRANCE - FRANCE First Empire / Napoleon I (1804–1814). 2-franc coin, visit to the Paris Mint by Frederick Augustus I of Saxony, 1809, Paris. Obv. FRED. AUG. KING OF SAXONY. Coat of arms of Saxony on palm branches. Reverse. Inscription in 6 lines: HIS MAJESTY/ THE KING OF SAXONY/ VISITS THE IMPERIAL MINT/ OF PARIS/ ON 7 DECEMBER/ 1809. G.502c v. – Maz.633a v. – Théret/Taillard 1704 v.; Silver – 12.97 g – 27.6 mm – 12 h Struck as a medal and of substantial weight, this specimen was produced by subsequent casting. With a dark patina; the fields are varnished. Superb.
