Provisional Government of 1814 (1 April to 2 May 1814). 2-franc coin, depicting Alexander I of Russia’s visit to the Paris Mint; reverse in French; edge inscription: DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM; Special Strike (SP) 1814, Paris.
Obverse: TO THE PACIFIER OF EUROPE. In the centre, the cipher of Alexander I, with ‘PARIS’ below and Tiolier’s cursive signature.
Reverse: ALEXANDER RETURNS FRANCE TO EUROPE. On a globe in relief, three fleurs-de-lis. In the exergue: AVRIL 1814.

Special strike (SP). With an engraved edge: (lily) DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM (and not ‘DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE’ as described in reference works). Has a burnished flan appearance with satin-finish relief against a mirror-like field. A few hairline scratches on the field and minimal spots. Superb.
