FRANCE - FRANCE Charles X (1824–1830). Single-sided reverse proof of the 40-franc gold coin, 1825, A, Paris. Obverse: Smooth. Reverse: Crowned Shield of France, between two laurel branches, flanked by ‘40 – F’, with the date (variant) and mint mark below. Maz.- - VG.- - Théret/Taillard 3064.a.UR = this specimen!; Pewter - 1.19 g - 26 mm - 12 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! From an iNumis sale: this is the specimen illustrated in *Le Franc, Charles X*, p.372. PCGS MS62 (58336973). On a thin pewter blank, bearing the year 1825, which was never actually struck! Superb in proof condition.
