Convention (1792–1795). Trial coin or prototype of the FRENCH balance coin, embossed signature and exergue, Special Strike (SP) 1793 – Year II, A, Paris.
Obverse: REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE / L’AN (date). Inscription: ‘MEN ARE EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW’ and the signature ‘Dupré’ in relief, beneath a radiant eye, between a bunch of grapes and ears of wheat, with an exergue bar.
Reverse: LIBERTE EGALITE. The pan of a set of scales surmounted by a cap of liberty, on which is a crown with, in the centre: 1 S.; below: (mint) and (varying) (date) (varying).

Special Strike (SP). Featuring Dupré’s cursive and embossed signature, and an exergue bar on the obverse beneath the Table. Slight, even circulation wear and a light brown patina developing. Superb in Proof condition.
