First Empire / Napoleon I (1804–1814). Quarter franc, laureate head, REPUBLIQUE 1808, L, Bayonne.
Obverse: NAPOLEON EMPEREUR. Laureate head facing right, with Tiolier’s cursive signature below.
Reverse: REP. FRA. Within a wreath formed of two branches: QUART, with the date and mint mark below.

Only 4,393 copies minted! The strike is slightly off-centre with a minimal flat spot on the rim at 6 o’clock on the obverse. Wear is even, with a grey patina. Very Fine to Very Good.
