Louis XVIII (1814–1824). 20 francs, bareheaded, misstruck coin with a flattened flan and half outside the die rings, 1816, A, Paris.
Obverse: LOUIS XVIII – KING OF FRANCE. Bareheaded head of Louis XVIII facing right, with the signature MICHAUT F and (variant) below.
Reverse: Crowned coat of arms of France, between two laurel branches, flanked by 20 -F, with (different) (date) (mint) below.

NGC AU 58 MINT ERROR OBV STRICK THRU LATE STAGE CAPPED DIE (8769661-008).
The edge is partially inscribed: DOMINE SALVUM (FAC shifted) (REGEM with only the base of the letters). The strike is ‘crushed’ (Chort p.412), with the wide blank and raised ridges on the reverse. The obverse is blurred, poorly defined, and the field appears scratched. A very rare error that passed quality control. TTB / Superb.
