FRANCE - FRANCE Louis-Philippe I (1830–1848). 100-franc gold trial coin, 1831 competition, by Domard ND (1831), Paris. Obverse: LOUIS PHILIPPE I – KING OF THE FRENCH. Laureate head facing left; below, the signature DOMARD. F. Reverse. Within a wreath formed of a laurel branch and an olive branch: 100 FRANCS ESSAI, and below, a star. G.1127b – Maz.1057b – VG.2748 – Théret/Taillard 4065.b.2; Silver – 19.13 g – 34 mm – 6 h NGC AU DETAILS CLEANED (8772188-025). Special strike on a silver blank with a raised edge featuring three bands: *** DIEU / PROTEGE / LA FRANCE. Previously cleaned, with hairlines in the fields and a few small marks in the field on the reverse. Patina forming with iridescent and bluish highlights. Superb.
