Louis-Philippe I (1830–1848). Private trial coin of 10 centimes bearing ‘LP’, bimetallic with a bronze obverse and copper reverse, by Adrien Lucy, 1838, Metz (Arsenal).
Obverse. Beneath a crown in intaglio and within a scalloped shield in intaglio, centred on the monogram ‘LP’ in relief; the whole within a wreath formed of two oak branches, in intaglio.
Reverse: Within a festooned shield in intaglio, in the centre, 10 / CENT and the signature ‘Lucy. F’ in relief; the whole within a wreath formed of two laurel branches, with a cartouche inscribed with the (date) at the bottom and beneath a star at the top, in intaglio.

Composed of two blanks: the obverse in copper or red bronze and the reverse in brass or yellow bronze. Slight patina. Superb.
Private trial coin by the Receiver-General of the Department of Moselle, Adrien Lucy. A patron of the arts, in 1838 he set out to improve coin minting. The equipment from the Metz workshop, which had closed in 1800, was then housed at the Metz arsenal, where Adrien Lucy had his private trial coins struck. He was received by the Minister in December 1838, but his trial coins were not selected
