Obverse: LOUIS PHILIPPE I – KING OF THE FRENCH. Laureate bust with an oak wreath facing right; below, the signature ‘CAQUÉ’. F.
Reverse: MARSEILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Mercury seated on the left upon the prow of an ancient ship, his right foot resting on a cornucopia, and holding the caduceus; around the edge, the coat of arms of Marseille and an olive branch; in the exergue, MDCCCXXVIII and the signatures DE PUYMAURIN Dt and DOMARD INVt ET Ft.

Bearing the ‘antique lamp’ hallmark. Special strike with satin-finished reliefs and mirror-finish edges. A few hairline scratches and slight signs of handling. Superb.
