Second Republic (1848–1852). 10-centime silver trial piéfort, 1848 competition, by Alard, 1848, Paris.
Obverse: RÉPUBLIQUE – FRANÇAISE. Head of the Republic facing left, wearing a helmet adorned with a spread-winged cockerel and crowned with a wreath of oak leaves and ears of corn; below, the signature ‘F Alard’.
Reverse: LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ. Within a wreath formed of a laurel branch and an oak branch: 10 CENTIMES (date).
