Obverse: NAPOLEON III – EMPEREUR. Bare head facing right; below (variant) BARRE. Rev. EMPIRE - FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantling and crossing the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 100 - FRs; below (mint) (date) (variant). G.1135 – Maz.1601a – VG.3406; Gilded bronze – 35 mm – 12 h From a Palombo 15 auction, 22 October 2016, lot no. 734. NGC MS 61 (2757167-005 and 453292-015). On burnished blanks (PROOF) with smooth edges. A pair of single-sided gilt bronze trial coins, bearing the inscriptions AB / EPREUVE / 100. F. / 1855 on the reverse. Slight traces of fingerprints and scuffing. Golden patina. Superb.
