FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 100 francs, bare-headed, 1855, A, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Bare-headed head facing right, with the signature ‘BARRE’ below. Reverse: EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantling and crossing the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 100 – FRs; below: (mint) (date) (variant). G.1135 – F.550 – Fr.570; Gold – 32.26 g – 35 mm – 6 h Top Pop (4): this is the finest graded specimen! NGC MS 64 (8769663-036). With a slight proof-like appearance, this specimen has seen very little circulation, with minimal handling marks on the fields. A light patina covers the original lustre. Superb in mint condition.
