Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 100 francs, bareheaded, 1855, A, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Bareheaded head facing right, with the signature ‘BARRE’ below. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantling and surmounting the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 100 - FRs; below (mint) (date) (variant). G.1135 – F.550 – Fr.569; Gold – 32.23 g – 35 mm – 6 h PCGS MS62 (56278553). This specimen has seen only light circulation, with minimal signs of handling in the fields and on the borders. A slight golden patina over the original lustre. Superb, near-mint condition.
