FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 100 francs, bareheaded, 1857, A, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Bareheaded head facing right, with the signature ‘BARRE’ below. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantle and crossing the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 100 - FRs; below (mint) (date) (variant). G.1135 – F.550 – Fr.570; Gold – 35 mm – 6 h This is the second-highest grade! Of the 444 specimens graded by NGC, only 3 in MS 64 are higher. NGC MS 63+ (8769677-001). Only minimal handling marks and fingerprints that add a golden sheen to the fields, with a beautiful visual appearance. Superb in mint condition.
