FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). Pair of single-sided gilt bronze trial coins, 20 francs, bare head, by Albert Barre, Special Strikes (SP) 1855, A, Paris. Obv. NAPOLEON III – EMPEREUR. Bare head facing right; below (variant) BARRE (variant). Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Within a wreath formed of two branches: 20 FRANCS (date) and below (mint mark). G.1061 - Maz.1611a - VG.3410; Gilded bronze – 3.19 g and 3.35 g – 21 mm – 6 h This is the second-highest grade for the obverse! PCGS SP62 (56278439 and 56278440). Special strikes (SP) with a smooth edge. Pair of gilded bronze dies, with [20. F / die / AB 1855] on the reverse. The fields show minimal hairline scratches and have a matt finish. Superb in proof condition.
