FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 5-franc trial coin, bareheaded, large head, by Barre, Special Strike (SP) 1853, A, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III BY THE GRACE OF GOD AND THE NATIONAL WILL. Bare head facing left, below the signature BARRE, (various) and (date). Rev. EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantle and overlying the sceptre and the hand of justice; below, 5 – F and (mint mark). G.727 - Maz.1630 - VG.3321; Silver – 23.89 g – 37 mm – 6 h PCGS SP58 (56278476). Special strike (SP) with a smooth edge. Minor handling marks in the fields and on the scrolls. With slight wear on the high reliefs and a grey patina. Superb.
