FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). Five-centime proof coin with bare head on a mild steel (or iron) blank, 1853, B, Rouen. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR / (variant) (date) (variant). Bare head facing left, with the signature ‘BARRE’ below. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS / * CINQ CENTIMES *. Spread-winged eagle, head to the right, on a thunderbolt; below (mint mark). G.152 (silver?) - Maz.1706c - VG.3358; Steel – 25 mm – 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! With an old collector’s label. NGC MS 63 (6979009-008). Struck on a magnetic iron or mild steel blank. The strike is somewhat weak on the high reliefs, which are poorly defined. A few spots of rust and traces of brushing in the fields. Very rare.
