Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). Pair of single-sided gilt bronze trial coins of 100 francs, featuring a laureated head, by Albert Barre, Special Strikes (SP) 1862, E, Paris.
Obv. NAPOLEON III – EMPEROR. Laureate head facing right, with (mint mark) and the signature BARRE below.
Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantling and overlying the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 100 – FRs; below (anchor) (date) (anchor).

This is the second-highest grade (3 examples, obverse) and Top Pop: it is the finest graded specimen (3 examples, reverse)! From the Palombo 15 auction, 22 October 2016, lot 736.
PCGS SP64 and SP65 (80483889 and 80483890).
Special strikes (SP) with smooth edges. Pair of single-sided trial strikes in gilded bronze, bearing the inscriptions AB / EPREUVE / 100. F. / 1855 (sic!) on the reverse. Very fine hairlines. Beautiful lustre with golden patinas. Proof condition.
