FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 50 francs, laureate head, 1866, A, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. Laureate head facing right, with ‘différent’ below and the signature ‘BARRE’. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Imperial coat of arms resting on a crowned mantling and surmounting the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by ‘50 – FR’; below (mint mark) (date) (variant). G.1112 – F.548 – Fr.582; Gold – 16.07 g – 28 mm – 6 h NGC MS 62 (8769663-030). A chip on the edge at 5 o’clock. Only minor scratches and handling marks. With a slight patina on the original polish. Superb, mint condition.
