Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 1 franc trial coin with laureate head, reverse featuring an olive wreath, smooth edge, 1860, E, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR (different). Laureate head facing left, with the signature ‘BARRE’ below. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Within a wreath formed of two olive branches: ‘1 FRANC’ (date) and a small anchor; in the exergue (mint mark). G.462 - Maz.1666 - VG.3561; Silver - 5.02 g - 23 mm - 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! From an MDC 13 sale, lot no. 1952. NGC MS 63 (6637670-014). Featuring a reclining anchor on the obverse and a upright anchor on the reverse. A very rare trial strike of a hybrid type. Perfect, deep strike. Collector’s patina. Mint condition.
