Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 50 centimes trial coin with laureate head, reverse featuring an olive wreath, 835 M (thousandths), smooth edge, burnished blank (PROOF) 1861, E, Paris.
Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR (variant). Laureate head facing left, with the signature ‘BARRE’ and (mint mark) beneath the goatee.
Rev. ‘EMPIRE FRANÇAIS’. Within a wreath formed of two olive branches: ‘50 CENT.’ (date); in the exergue ‘835 M’.
