Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Second Empire / Napoleon III (1852–1870). 50 centimes trial coin with laureate head, reverse featuring an olive wreath, 850 M(illièmes), smooth edge, burnished blank (PROOF) 1861, E, Paris. Obverse: NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR (variant). Laureate head facing left, with the signature BARRE below and (mint mark) beneath the goatee. Rev. EMPIRE FRANÇAIS. Within a wreath formed of two olive branches: 50 CENT. (date); in the exergue 850 M. G.416 - Maz.- (see 1681a for 1862) - VG.3587; Silver – 2.49 g – 18 mm – 6 h This is the second-highest grade! From MDC 13 auction, lot 1955. NGC PF 64 (6637670-012). Burnished blank (PROOF). In its mint state with a grey patina and golden highlights. Proof.
