Obverse: NAPOLEON III – EMPEROR. Laureate head facing left; below, signature H. PONSCARME F.
Reverse: UNIVERSAL EXHIBITION OF MDCCCLXVII IN PARIS / FOR SERVICES RENDERED. Two cherubs holding a cartouche surmounted by a crown; behind, an eagle with outstretched wings; signed H. PONSCARME. F.

Hallmarks (bee) GOLD. Special large-module strike. The fields are barely worn. Superb in mint condition.
For services rendered by Prince Philippe of Belgium (1837–1905), Count of Flanders. He was the third son of King Leopold I of Belgium and Queen Louise, née Princess of Orléans. In 1867, the year of the Paris World’s Fair, he married Marie of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, cousin of the future Emperor William I. In Paris in 1867, the Prince was a signatory to the ‘Convention of Princes’ for the pooling of researchers and scholars from around the world
