Third Republic (1870–1940). Medal, ‘Young Blind People’ by Hippolyte Lefebvre, SAMF No. 25, 1902, Paris.
Obverse: A group of blind youths gathered around a musician; in the exergue, the inscription ‘1902’ and ‘HIPPOLYTE LEFEBVRE’.
Reverse: A young blind girl, accompanied by her guide dog, knocks on the door of the INSTITUTION FOR BLIND CHILDREN; below, the signature HIPPOLYTE LEFEBVRE/ 1902.
Maier 18; Silver – 155.98 g – 69 mm – 12 h
On the edge, hallmarks (horn) SILVER (lizard) and number 25. Only 93 examples were struck in silver and distributed to members of the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française.
Matt finish. Minimal signs of handling. Superb, mint condition.
