Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870–1940). Medal, ‘Soldiers’ by Paul Roger-Bloche, SAMF No. 49 1905, Paris. Obverse. On a battlefield, a soldier (sentry) labouring to the left, leaning on his rifle; signed P. ROGER-BLOCHE. Reverse. A group of soldiers marching to the left, in full kit, visibly exhausted. Maier 34; Silver – 151.6 g – 56 mm – 12 h On the edge, hallmarks (horn) SILVER (lizard) and number 49. Only 76 examples were struck in silver and distributed to members of the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française. Matt obverse. Minimal handling marks and blemishes. Superb.
