Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870–1940). Medal, *The Seasons* by René de Saint-Marceaux, SAMF no. 123, 1906, Paris. Obverse [Spring] A young naked woman kneeling on the right on clouds above a landscape, holding bunches of flowers; signed St MARCEAVX. Reverse [Winter] A naked old woman huddled at the foot of a tree with crows in the sky; signed 1897 St MARCEAVX. Maier 39; Bronze – 194 g – 65 mm – 12 h From the collection of Nicolas Maier. On the edge, hallmarks (horn) BRONZE (lizard) and number 123. Only 119 copies were struck in bronze and distributed to members of the Société des Amis de la Médaille Française. With a matt brown patina. Superb, in mint condition.
