Third Republic (1870–1940). 100-franc ‘Genius’ bronze-aluminium trial coin, Special Strike (SP) 1914, A, Paris.
Obverse: RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Winged Genius of the Republic standing facing right, engraving the word CONSTITUTION on a tablet, flanked by a fasces on the left and a cockerel on the right; in the exergue: signatures A.B. and Dupré; ‘ESSAI’ engraved below the cockerel.
Reverse: LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ. Within an oak wreath, (denomination) and (date) in the centre, with ‘atelier’ below.

Special Strike (SP) on a bronze-aluminium blank. With ‘ESSAI’ in intaglio on the obverse. The patina is slightly uneven. Superb in Proof condition.
