Third Republic (1870–1940). Proof (pre-issue) 10 centimes Daniel-Dupuis, head facing left, collar without frieze, 1897, Paris.
Obverse: REPUBLIQUE - FRANÇAISE. Bust of the Republic facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap and holding an olive branch. Signed DANIEL-DUPUIS.
Reverse: LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE. The Republic facing left, with a child. Cartouche inscribed with ‘10’ and ‘CENTIMES’ on a band. At the bottom, (date) on the band and signature DANIEL-DUPUIS.

Special strike, not a ‘trial’ coin, with a wide rim on the obverse. Slight flattening on the reverse in the high relief areas. Retains much of its original red colour. Superb in mint condition.
