Description
FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870–1940). 2-franc trial coin, Chambers of Commerce, 1920, Paris. Obverse: COMMERCE INDUSTRIE. Mercury seated on the left upon a bale of goods, lightly draped and wearing a winged petasos, his left hand resting on an ancient rudder, his right hand holding a caduceus; an upturned cornucopia behind the bale; in the exergue: DOMARD (date) INV. ; ‘ESSAI’ to the right of the field. Reverse. * CHAMBRES. DE. COMMERCE. DE. FRANCE. In the centre: ‘BON POUR 2 FRANCS’; below (variant) and ‘BR. AL. GEM.112.3 - Maz.2574 - VG.- (cf. 4937, piéfort); copper-aluminium – 7.76 g – 27 mm – 6 h This is the second-highest grade! NGC MS 66 (8772187-003). Close to its mint condition, with the fields barely tinted. Superb in mint condition.
