FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870–1940). 20-franc Turin proof coin in cupronickel, small die, Special Strike (SP) 1939, Paris. Obverse: REPUBLIQUE - FRANÇAISE. Head of the Republic facing right, wearing the cap of Liberty and a laurel wreath; below, the signature P. TURIN. Reverse: Between two ears of corn: 20 FRANCS (variant) (date) (variant) and LIBERTE/ EGALITE/ FRATERNITE. GEM.200.8 - Maz.-; Copper-nickel - 33 mm - 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded example! PCGS SP62 (37874405). Special Strike (SP) with a slight misalignment. Minimal handling marks and micro-scratches, particularly on the obverse. Slight patina, with golden highlights, over the original lustre. Seven examples known according to Taillard and Arnaud. Superb in Proof condition.
