FRANCE - FRANCE Third Republic (1870–1940). 20-franc Turin trial coin in cupronickel, tight ‘ESSAI’ inscription and edge with 159 grooves, Special Strike (SP) 1939, Paris. Obverse: REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Laureate head of the Republic facing right, signed P. TURIN. Reverse: 20 FRANCS (date) and LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE between two ears of corn; with ‘ESSAI’ in the exergue. GEM.200.11 - Maz.2555a v.; Copper-nickel - 16.91 g - 35 mm - 6 h This is the second-highest grade! PCGS SP64 (49960554). Special Strike (SP). With a tight ‘ESSAI’ inscription and high weight.
