Third Republic (1870–1940). 10-franc Turin trial coin, adopted design, Special Strike (SP) 1929, Paris.
Obverse: REPUBLIQUE – FRANÇAISE. Head of the Republic facing right, wearing the cap of Liberty and a laurel wreath; below, the signature P. TURIN.
Reverse: Between two ears of corn: 10 FRANCS (variant) (date) (variant) and LIBERTE/ EGALITE/ FRATERNITE; in the exergue ESSAI.

Special strike (SP). Only 9 examples struck! With a beautiful patina featuring golden highlights. Almost Proof.
The original case from the 1929 competition contains all 9 silver trial strikes, and only 9 sets were struck! Only 4 or 5 copies are known to exist: the BnF, the Monnaie de Paris and perhaps 2 or 3 in private hands (see GEM p.403). The artists featured are Bazor, Bénard, Delannoy, Guzman, La Fleur, Morlon, Popineau, Rasumny and the winner, Pierre Turin. Turin’s proof, however, appears to be easier to find than the figure of nine copies would suggest.
