Obverse: REPUBLIQUE – FRANÇAISE. Head of the Republic facing right, wearing the cap of Liberty and a laurel wreath; below, the signature P. TURIN.
Reverse: 5 FRANCS (variant) (date) (variant) and LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE between two ears of corn; in the exergue (corner) ESSAI in a cartouche.
