Third Republic (1870–1940). Lindauer 25-centime pre-series, date with dots, reeded edge, Special Strike (SP) 1940, Paris.
Obverse: ‘RF’ around the central hole, surmounted by a Phrygian cap, all within a wreath formed of two branches; signature ‘EM. LINDAUER’.
Reverse: LIBERTE. EGALITE. FRATERNITE (date). Central hole flanked by two olive branches and 25 - CMES; below (date).

Special Strike (SP), in zinc, not a ‘trial’ coin but with a fluted edge. Two examples known, according to Taillard and Arnaud. In its mint state, the metal is barely oxidised on the surface. Almost Proof.
