Obverse: RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Dressed bust of the Republic with long hair facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap; signed LAGRIFFOUL.
Reverse: LIBERTE. EGALITE / FRATERNITE. Within a wreath formed of a branch and an ear of corn: 5 CENTIMES (date) and around the 5 the (varying).
