GREAT BRITAIN Canute the Great (1016–1035). Standard denier featuring a pointed helmet, minted under the name of the mint master Edwig ND (1024–1030), Oxford. Obverse (at 12 o’clock) + CNVT: - R·E·X AN. Draped bust wearing a helmet adorned with dots, holding a sceptre, facing left. Reverse + EDPIEE: ON OXCEN:. A hollowed-out short cross, flanked by four broken annulets with bezants. S.1158 – Bruun 783 – SCBI Cop.3265 = this specimen!; Silver – 1.14 g – 18 mm – 3 h From the L. E. Bruun collection no. 783 and previously from the Countship of Brahesminde collection (private sale – 1922). NGC MS 64 (8223305-033). Close to its mint condition with a lovely patina displaying bluish highlights. Superb in mint condition.
