GREAT BRITAIN William I the Conqueror (1066–1087). PAXS-type denier, minted by the mint master Sepine (Sæwine) ND (c.1083–1086), Worcester. Obverse: + PILLELM REX. Draped and crowned bust facing forward, holding a sceptre. Reverse: + SEPINE ON PIHR. A cross pattée flanked by four small rings bearing the letters P at 1, A at 2, X at 3 and S at 4. S.1257; Silver – 1.38 g – 19 mm – 9 h With a Spink label. PCGS MS61 (56278452). The blank is only slightly warped. Attractive collector’s patina. Superb.
