GREAT BRITAIN Henry VIII (1509–1547). Golden Angel, 3rd issue, Undated (1544–1547), London. Obv. (lily) HENRICSx 8x Dx Gx AGLx FRAx Zx HIBx REX. Saint Michael, nimbated, standing on the right, piercing the dragon with his lance; a small ring above the nimbus. Reverse (lily) PERx CRVCEx TVAx SALVAx NOSx XPEx REDEx. A shield quartered with the coats of arms of France and England on a ship’s hull; a cross on the mast, flanked by an ‘H’ and a rose; a ring above the hull. S.2299 (105–106) – Fr.168; Gold – 5.12 g – 27.5 mm – 2 h NGC AU 55 (8772187-038). Featuring a lily, a ring behind the head and one on the boat. The blank is slightly irregular and the strike is slightly off-centre. Marks on the edge. With a golden patina. Very Good to Superb.
