GREAT BRITAIN Oliver Cromwell (1653–1658). Half-crown, 1658, London. Obv. OLIVAR. D. G. R P. ANG. SCO. ET. HIB &c PRO. Laureate and draped bust facing left. Rev. PAX QVÆRITVR. BELLO. Crowned shield surmounted by the (date). S.3227A - Esc.447; Silver – 14.99 g – 33.5 mm – 6 h NGC MS 62 (8769660-008). Almost a burnished blank appearance, with the portrait additionally featuring a dotted relief, as do the coats of arms within the shield on the reverse. The edge is embossed: +· HAS· NISI· PERITVRVS· MIHI· ADIMAT· NEMO· [Let no one remove these letters on pain of death]. Delicate collector’s patina. Superb in mint condition.
