ITALY Genoa, Republic (1528–1797). 48 lire dated 1794, Genoa. Obverse: REIP. GENU. - DUX. ET. GUB. A crowned coat of arms resting on an entablature and supported by two griffins. Reverse: ET. REGE. - EOS. (date). The Virgin and Child amidst clouds, with ‘L. 48’ below. MIR.277/2 - Fr.445; Gold - 12.57 g - 27 mm - 6 h This is the second-highest grade! PCGS AU53 (56278443). The strike is slightly off-centre and the wear is even. Slight golden patina. Almost Superb.
