Bonaparte, depicted as a genius, presenting the Constitution to the Cisalpine Republic seated on the right; signed L. M. F.; in the exergue: COMIZI. CISALPINI/ IN. LYON. Year X. Reverse. In the field: VOTI. PVBBLICI/ PER. LA. PROSPERITA'/ ETERNA. DELLA. REPVBBLICA/ CISALPINA. ASSICVRATA/ COLLA. COSTITVZIONE/ AVSPICE. BONAPARTE. Br.190 – Jul.1046 – Ess.952; Silver – 58.6 g – 55 mm – 12 h Reportedly purchased from Kampmann on 19 April 1985. With a dark patina on the obverse. Only minimal marks and the high reliefs are very sharp. Superb, in mint condition. On 26 January 1802, the deputies of the Cisalpine Republic, meeting at the Consulte de Lyon, proclaimed its transformation into the Italian Republic, with Napoleon Bonaparte, First Consul, as its president. This Italian Republic came to an end on 26 May 1805 upon the coronation of Napoleon I as King of Italy in Milan Cathedral.
