ITALY Naples, Charles V (1516–1554). Doppia (double gold scudo) ND (1546–1548) – A, Naples. Obverse: CAROLVS. V. ROM. IMP. Draped and armoured bust facing right, a radiate crown on the head; (variant) behind the neck. Rev. MAGNA. OPERA. DOMI. Peace standing on the left, draped, holding a cornucopia in her left hand and a torch in her right hand, with which she sets alight books and weapons lying on the ground. MIR.126 - Fr.831; Gold - 6.75 g - 25.5 mm - 9 h Top Pop: this is the finest specimen graded by PCGS! PCGS AU58 (60810767). Beautifully struck and of remarkable quality, with a striking bust of Charles V. Only minimal signs of handling and a lovely golden patina. Superb in Proof condition.
