Laudicina, proof-like finish (PROOFLIKE) 1832, Naples. Obverse: FERDINANDVS II. ET MARIA CHRISTINA REGNI VTR. SICIL. R. R. Side-by-side busts on the right of Ferdinand II and Maria Christina of Savoy; signature DE ROSA M. P. and F. REGA DIR. and M. LAUDICINA F. Rev. FELICIBVS NVPTIIS. A medallion bearing the portraits of the bride and groom, set upon a column inscribed ‘VOTA PV-BLICA’ with the couple’s coat of arms, flanked on the left by a turreted allegory (Hymen) and on the right by a genius symbolising the fire of Love, holding a torch and a crown; in the exergue: ANN. CICICCCCXXXII, signed DE ROSA M. P. and F. REGA DIR. and M. LAUDICINA F. D’Auria 179 – Ricciardi 160; Gold – 294.33 g – 63.5 mm - 12 o’clock Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! NGC MS 61 PL (8769666-002). With a burnished proof (PROOFLIKE) finish. Extremely rare, with only 13 copies minted! Tiny traces of scuffing on the edge. Only minimal hairline scratches in the fields and fingerprints. Slight golden patina.
