Within a double angular quatrefoil, with a beaded line in the centre, a slanted Savoy shield, surmounted by a helmet with a crest, flanked by Savoy knots. Rev. + .S. IOHA - NNES. B +. Saint John the Baptist standing facing forward, holding a staff surmounted by a cross (that of the legend). Cud.143d (R7) - MIR.98c - Fr.1015; Gold - 3 g - 21 mm - 6 h This is the second-highest grade! NGC AU 55 (8769659-002). Well centred, with the outer rebranding marks present. The blank is barely warped. Wear is minimal, with a slight golden patina, and there are a few black deposits in the inscriptions. Very rare. Superb. Florin authorised on 14 June 1384, weighing 23 carats 6 grains and with a mintage of 82 pieces per mark.
