Bust of the Supreme Pontiff facing left; below, signature N. C. Rev. BENE MERENTI on a banner held by an angel on the right. Barac 113 v.; Gold – (total weight) 4.88 g – (62 mm total height) and 11 mm – 12 h Small gold medallion and gold rim, with a crown suspended from a white and yellow ribbon (colours of the Papacy). Very complete set. Superb. The BENE MERENTI medal is an award for civil and military merit. In 1831, Pope Gregory XVI had this medal struck to reward those who had distinguished themselves through their courage in the papal army at Ferrara, Bologna and Vienna
