LEBANON Lebanese Republic (Greater Lebanon – 1926–1943). Aluminium proof (without the word ‘ESSAI’) 5 piastres featuring a trireme, Special Strike (SP) 1940, Paris. Obverse: STATE OF GREATER LEBANON. A cedar tree beneath the legend, with two bees. Reverse (variant): 5 PIASTRES (variant) / (date). A trireme on the left. Obv. – KM.–; Aluminium – 1.55 g – 23 mm – 9 h Top Pop (3): this is the finest graded specimen! PCGS SP66 (56278523). Special Strike (SP) with the axis at 9 o’clock. Not a trial strike; struck on an aluminium blank. Ribbed edge. Not catalogued, but a few examples are known, such as MDC 13 lot no. 2380! In mint condition.
